ok, seriously, this is ridiculous. An admin moved one of my images ([link]) from pixel art>characters>non-isometric into scraps even though it is very obviously PIXEL ART of CHARACTERS and NON-ISOMETRIC. I have NO IDEA what other category this admin thinks this picture should be in as the note sent to me gave no indication, just that sometimes, when an admin is feeling lazy, they'll put your picture into scraps when they don't think you've categorized it properly. BUT, the same FAQ entry says they might place it in the appropriate place where they think it goes.

This admin did this within A DAY of me posting it but I've not yet received a reply when I first asked what I was supposed to do with this. the note in question does not even specify which CATEGORY i should classify an inquiry towards the help desk to (is this general help? is this a policy inquiry?). I have no idea if this administrator thought it should go into SCRAPS which made no sense or some OTHER category, which also makes no sense.

Obviously, I placed it in that category because it fit the content of the image. Therefore, I obviously DO NOT KNOW What category this admin wants it in. I do not feel it is appropriate to ask your clients to play some sort of guessing game with some nameless administrator that cannot be held accountable for their actions or even be called upon to explain.

for the record, i'm always horrified when reality squared gets back to me, his replies to things like art theft have always been either denial or threats. so i'll probably get banned if he's involved.

note that it's three people all saying they'll look into it and then... not. the time it takes them to send that note they could have taken care of this. WHAT IS THERE TO LOOK INTO? PICTURE IN DIFFERENT CATEGORY!! are they saying that they need MORE THAN ONE PERSON to figure out which category my picture is supposed to go into? i didn't realize i needed a committee to use this goddamn site.

Wow. This is the most made up excuse I have ever heard. Let me tell you why I think this is made up and ludicrous:

This is what the description for the category I attempted to submit this image to states since you seem unaware:

No where in this is it stated that I must submit a certain format type for this specific category. Neither is this special secret rule stated anywhere in your submission policy [link]

1) So, how is anyone supposed to know this secret rule? Because this is apparently a secret, it sounds like you just made it up just for me. This is not posted anywhere, nor was this explained when my picture was moved to scraps for such an obscure reason. This note I received did not say “this is in the wrong format for this category” it says “this is in the wrong category”. Do you think this an acceptable way of communicating to your client what the “roblem” was?

2) Why does it matter whether it's a jpg or not? it's a PREVIEW of what the downloadable set of pixel art is. If you actually looked at the .zip file you’d see that all the files in there are .gif files. But this is moot, since anyone staring with their EYES at the IMAGE would see that the IMAGE is made of PIXELS although it is saved as jpeg.

3) do you want to know WHY I made it a jpg instead of a transparent gif or a png like any person would love to do? Because, despite this being an art-heavy website with the word ’art’ in the name, your preview system cannot FATHOM transparent images without putting hideous black all around it. This is an art site and such a presentation of my art is unacceptable.

4) Are you saying that just because something is pixel art, that it somehow does not qualify as pixel art because of the format in which it is presented? Considering that EVERYTHING on this website is made of pixels, that ALL image formats are made of pixels, this assortment is insane.

5) Do you understand what pixel art is used for? Do you understand that a good majority of it is used as graphic design material such as icons or tiling? Do you understand why a good majority of pixel art would conceivably be delivered to a user in a zipped set form? What you are suggesting is like if I bought a cd from a store and instead of getting all the songs on one cd I would have to get one song per cd at a time, despite the fact that it is more conducive, practical, and common to provide them in sets.

Please tell me what you think I should have done here differently. Do you think I should have psychically known this secret rule you have? Do you think I should have telepathically connected to the DA hive mind and downloaded your format preferences into my mind before submitting this deviation? Do you think I should submit this image with a gif preview image even though it is a PREVIEW image of a pixel art set and is very obvious through the description that it is a preview image of a set? What do you think I should do to provide people with a set of pixel art pieces? Upload them individually? Because that is insane, DA provide the .zip format support so that people can download sets, you need only to look at anything in the skinning section.

I think it’s pretty obvious that the person (whether that was you or not,I have no idea nor do I care) who took this down was simply lazy. They saw "jpeg" and said "nope, not pixel art". Someone that doesn't recognize pixel art when they see it should probably not be in charge of reorganizing other people's art. They tossed it into my scraps instead of actually communicating this issue to me, do you know why? Because there IS NO issue, because there’s nothing they could have reasonably pointed to defend this decision.
